The Big Budget Myth
SPEAKER_03
So there’s a sentence I hear a version of constantly. And it mostly comes from folks who are already doing really well in their businesses. And it sounds like I know I should be running Facebook and Instagram ads, but I don’t have a big enough budget to make them work. And here’s what’s interesting about that. The people who say this, they’re not struggling in their online course or coaching business. They’re actually selling, they’re doing quite well, but somehow this assumption that they need a big Facebook and Instagram ads budget in order for ads to work for them, that assumption is literally the thing that’s standing between them and the next level of success by growing their business with ads. And so my guest today, she runs ads to a quiz. So we’re gonna get to learn about her funnel. And that quiz routes people into a podcast playlist and then a freebie and then her paid products. You’re gonna want to listen up. She has retired herself and her husband, and she did so within two years of starting her online business. Her name is Holly Haynes, she’s a former Fortune 500 corporate ninja, she’s the founder of Antisocial School and the host of the Crush the Rush podcast. She’s the right person to talk to about this because, well, she never let the size of her budget become an excuse to wait. And so in this episode, you’re going to get to peek behind the scenes of her well-working, her quiz funnel that works pretty good. And you’re also going to get to learn. Well, I won’t spoil the surprise, but if you’re curious about like what’s standing between you and consistent business income, Holly is definitely the lady you want to hear from. And we’re going to talk about that later in the episode. Welcome to the Art of Online Business Podcast. Holly Hayes, good to see you again. Second episode, right?
SPEAKER_00
Yes. Thank you so much for having me, for having me back. I’m excited to be here.
SPEAKER_03
I’m I’m very happy to have you back this time about Facebook and Instagram ads. And
A Small Budget Experiment Mindset
SPEAKER_03
let’s start off with what is your mindset around Facebook and Instagram ads? Specifically, I know that they didn’t work out great for you in the beginning. How did you stay in the game?
SPEAKER_00
Uh well, I didn’t run ads for a really long time and really stayed in the game through organic connection, which I know is how you and I connected and have stayed connected. And I built a whole um signature program around it called Antisocial School. Um, but exactly what you said, you know, I just kept thinking like, you know, you see all everyone has a like, what is everyone else doing moment, right? And I had kind of had that moment of like, I’ve done all the things. Like, I know the funnel works, I’ve tested it. If you talk to any ad strategist like yourself, they would tell you to launch it multiple times, to look at your open rates, to look at your click rates, to have a proven methodology. Like we had it all. Um, and it had been proven for a really long time. And so my mindset was I’m gonna try this again and I’m going to go into it with I’m not gonna spend a ton of money and whatever comes out the other end, it’s gonna be an experiment and I’m gonna learn from it and we’re gonna go from there. Um, and so this is fairly new. Like we’re talking, it’s maybe three months old, not even that, maybe two months old. Um, so this is like fresh, fresh uh perspective. Um, I also just went into this year of knowing, I mean, so much is changing in the online business, which we could do a whole nother episode on. And I was like, I think this is the year where I’m gonna have to maybe do things different than what I did the year before. So we’ve kept all of our organic strategies. And for me personally, organic always performs better. But I was like, what if I had a really teeny tiny budget and I just sort of layered this on top and could see what would happen. The other piece of this is because our our quiz is new, our program and our other funnels are not new, and I’ll explain sort of how it works, but it’s also a great way to test, right? To test is is is the quiz what people want? Is this something that people want to see? Um, and so I sort of went in it with that mindset of it’s gonna be an experiment. I’m gonna learn, we’re not gonna panic, we’re not gonna spend millions of dollars, and let’s see what happens. So that’s kind
Building The Quiz To Podcast Funnel
SPEAKER_00
of kind of where we’re at.
SPEAKER_03
Okay, so that begs the question. What happened?
SPEAKER_00
Yeah, well, it’s actually been really fun. And so before we started the ads, I went back and I’m a huge data person, and we were talking about Claude sort of before this, and I use kit to send emails, and so it’s really fun to connect Claude and Kit together, and they can actually go in and analyze all of your funnels. And so I went in and I said, like in previous like, you know, funnels that we’ve run or previous ads that we’ve run, like what has performed the best? And what I found was if I was pointing people to something very, very specific, they tended to stick around longer. So you probably hear like, I want to run ads, but when I run ads, people come in and then they unsubscribe. Like, we don’t want people to unsubscribe, we want them to hang out for a while and purchase eventually. So I sort of looked at the behavior of the people that were hanging out for a while. And that behavior was they came in through a freebie, which now is the quiz, and then they did other things. And one of those other things was they listened to our podcast. And I could see that because I could see what they were clicking on, and I could sort of relate it back to some of the episodes that we had been sharing. And so I was like, if I can bring people in and I can wow them with wow, this isn’t just a freebie, this is like a whole podcast playlist that answers the question that I was searching for, then they’re gonna stick around longer. And I think one of the things that I say a lot in antisocial school is people right now are searching for the answers. They’re not scrolling, right? They’re they’re going into like Jad GPT or wherever and they’re searching. And I want to be the one that comes up. Um, and so we really structured our quiz to be the entry point. Everyone loves a quiz. I think that’s still true. They’re super fun to take. Um, but the back end of it leads to a podcast playlist where they’re listening to very specific questions that they were searching for, which you know, Facebook was like, here, I have your answer. Um and then they’re getting that they’re getting the answers through multiple episodes, but they’re hearing my voice. That helps them get to know me more. They’re hearing my like inflection and my excitement. And a lot of times on our podcasts, I tell personal stories. They know who I am and what I do. So they’re going from like a very cold lead to a warm lead pretty quickly because we’re pointing them to podcast episodes that match what they were searching for.
SPEAKER_03
So if I’m understanding correctly, you discovered an organic funnel, if if if I may, in your business, and then you reconstructed that organic funnel on purpose and filled it with ads. So far, so good.
SPEAKER_00
Yeah, yeah. So we basically put the quiz in front of all of our organic freebies.
SPEAKER_03
Okay, cool. And now, at least at the time of the recording of this episode, you’ve been running your quiz ads for how long?
SPEAKER_00
Probably two months. I mean, it’s pretty new. Um, and I will say, and this uh you you probably might have an opinion about this, we don’t have a tripwire on the back end of our quiz. So I think most would say, Holly, that’s like loss income, which I I get that. And I think eventually we would we will put a tripwire there. But what I did instead was they get the quiz and then it points them directly to the podcast episode to listen to. Because to me, the data showed me if I could point them to the podcast episodes and then the podcast episodes point to our old funnels and our freebies, then they stay longer and our launches and our sales then increase. Um, so maybe that answers your question, but yeah, it’s pretty new, and that’s sort of the setup that we have.
SPEAKER_03
You know, I like what you’re saying, and I would also say that technically, sure, we could apply a tripwire to a free league magnet, or in your case, the quiz. However, you’re attaching ads or hooking up ads to effectively what was an organic funnel that was producing revenue for you. So, like in the beginning, I would argue for keeping it simple and just getting those ads in place and then seeing how much revenue they’re generating for you, and then later on complicate it with all the things.
SPEAKER_00
Yeah, I really wanted to keep it simple because I mean ads make my head spin a little bit, and this is a complicated funnel now, right? Because we basically set a quiz in front of all of our freebies, and so you take the quiz and then it tells you like which freebie might make the best sense for you, which all lead to different offers, but also all have podcast playlists that go with it. So it took a minute to set all that up and I didn’t want to overcomplicate it. Um, but now I can go into each one of our funnels and I can see like which one is the most popular. I can also see who we’re attracting because our quiz is essentially set up to attract a like lower sort of low-ticket client, a mid-ticket client or like an advanced high-ticket client. And I can see what the ads are attracting. Are they attracting more low-ticket, mid-ticket, or high ticket? And then I can adjust sort of our emails and what we’re selling based on what’s coming in from that quiz. So the quiz gives you a lot of data too.
SPEAKER_03
I was just gonna ask, how can you see if the person who’s filling up the quiz is going to be, as you refer to them, somebody who’s buying a low-ticket, mid-ticket, or high-ticket offer?
SPEAKER_00
So the way that we structured, well, let to answer it this way the way that our product suite is set up is I say um low, medium, or high, or beginner, intermediate, advanced. So when you take the quiz, your answers are going to point you to beginner, intermediate, or advanced business owner, and they line up with low-ticket, mid-ticket, or high-ticket programs. So I can see like one of our one of our um answers is you want to grow your business without social media. That’s our mid-ticket program. It’s antisocial school. There’s a whole podcast playlist that tells you how to grow without social media. And I can see if people are coming in there that, like, hey, this is a really trending right now. I should talk about this more. Or, hey, I should target these people. And one of the things we do plan on doing is um retargeting ads of like, hey, everyone who downloaded this, the medium level of our quiz, we’re gonna say, like, here’s step two of this, and we can retarget
Offers And Buyer Levels Inside The Quiz
SPEAKER_00
them. So the way that we structured our quiz was to really understand what type of buyer is coming in and then use that data to figure out what to do next.
SPEAKER_03
Okay. All right. I think the listener, let’s give them a little more context in case they’re not, they haven’t listened to your first episode. I want to know about these three offers that you’re talking about. I’m looking on your website right now, and I see it’s for the founder in the messy middle of business growth, a custom marketing system built around the business you’ve already built in six weeks, social optional. Tell us which offer that is, and then go up or down for there as far as Yeah.
SPEAKER_00
So our signature offer is anti-social school, which is what you just described. You already have a business, you want to scale, you’re maybe not loving social media, but also there’s so much going on right now with SEO and GEO and Claude and like all the things you can do behind the scenes. And so that program really teaches you how to put together a marketing plan where I like to say you can take a vacation with your family. In my case, I’ve been off for the last three weeks. My business still ran. We’re okay, like everything is fine. So um, that’s really our signature program. Uh, on the back end of that, when you graduate, you move into our club community, which is more of a like, I would say lower touch, but like accountability group. So a lot of our alumni hang out in there. If you aren’t sure what program you want to start, we have a lot of clients that start there and then move up. Uh, and then our on the flip side of that, we have what I call our co-op mastermind, which is a nine-month program and it’s super high touch. You get to you get antisocial school, you also get my team. There’s retreats. It’s like what you would think of um as a mastermind. So when you go in and take this quiz, I’m gathering data to see in a very organic, fun way, of course, like where are you at in your business? Are you wanting like, I just need accountability? I need somebody to like hold my hand and like so I like get it done. Or I really would love a marketing plan so that I can take a vacation or I can step away from my business, or I really want hands-on, tell me what to do. I want you like in my business, auditing it. Um, I love retreats. I want to work with your team, that kind of thing. And so we’re asking you strategic questions and then we’re giving you, I would say, like a sneak peek of the program before you even know that the program exists, right? Like we’re showing you, like, hey, if you want to build a business without social media, like here’s three things you can do. And we’re sharing that through the podcast episodes.
SPEAKER_03
I like it. Speaking of building a business without social media, like that that is what you teach people to do. How does ads fit in that picture for you?
SPEAKER_00
Yeah. So I like to say that social media for me is like the sidecar. It’s the second act, it’s the plan B, it’s never the first act. Sometimes I’m really social. Like I love to just like share in my stories what we’re doing. Or I was sharing, we just went to Alaska and I was able to like connect with a lot of my friends who had been there before and like shared things, but it wasn’t necessarily business related. Um, so sometimes I’m really social, sometimes I’m not. What I like to say with an antisocial school is I spend 30 minutes a week or less on social. So I’m not on it a ton. Um, you can be completely off of it if you want, or if you want to use it, that’s great too. For me, ads is the same. It’s the plan B, it’s the second act, it’s the like supporting role. It’s not the number one way that we’re bringing new leads into our world. I think a lot of businesses use ads as number one. It’s not, there’s not a right way, but for us, it’s sort of like the sidecar.
SPEAKER_03
We’ll get back to the episode in a moment, but I wanted to let Holly tell you about the quiz and what’s standing between you and your consistent business income.
SPEAKER_00
Yeah, I can’t wait for you guys to go take this quiz, mainly because you’re gonna hear everything that we just talked about. You’re gonna see how you can connect with your audience, you’re gonna understand the level of I would say, relationship building that you can do behind the scenes, and you’re gonna get some answers to hopefully understand what’s holding you back. And it’s just hollymariehaynes.com forward slash quiz.
SPEAKER_03
And that is linked up in the show notes below. Now let’s get back to the episode.
Tracking Sales From Ads To Revenue
SPEAKER_03
Have you always run your ads by yourself?
SPEAKER_00
For the most part, I hired an agency way back in 2020, and it wasn’t the best experience. Um, I’ve been in programs where I’ve like learned or taught myself. I’ve had different people help me along the way, but my budget is small. And so for me, hiring an agency is really not the card to play, at least at this phase of running ads for us.
SPEAKER_03
Yeah. What does small mean? Because I know we we we started off talking about budget in the intro. So, like for you, what does small mean?
SPEAKER_00
Yeah, so for us, it’s like a thousand dollars a month or less, right?
SPEAKER_03
Yeah, and so I love how you’re very strategic with your ad budget because uh I do get on calls, like you know, discovery calls, and folks will be like, Yeah, I’m looking at hiring you to run our ads. And I’m like, How much are you ready to spend on ads? Because we should be spending, you know, four thousand dollars, five thousand dollars a month to make it make sense, and I just shut up and look, right? Because you want to serve people, right? And if somebody’s not ready to spend that, it doesn’t make sense then to pay agency fees on top of that, right?
SPEAKER_00
Yeah, so I mean, like I said, it’s not the number one way, but I did feel like because I do feel like we have a proven methodology that it was worth playing around with and tracking the leads. So for us, we’re running the ads as growth to our list, we’re nurturing them, and then we have a launch coming up. So I want to track those leads all the way through and be able to say, like, okay, this was worth it because they stayed on our list, they didn’t leave. They this amount ended up purchasing. So we’re kind of like in the middle of a big case study right now. You can have me back in a couple of months and I’ll tell you um what happened. But uh, but yeah, that was our intention, right?
SPEAKER_03
Tracking. Thank you for saying that. Like it’s so important. Like, dear listener, here’s some of the work that like comes with setting yourself up to run ads successfully. Um, I onboarded somebody who they they they said they just are not sure where their sales are coming from. Um that would be like the typical scenario, Holly, where somebody has, let’s just say, like, a successful membership and they want to run ads to it. And so I’m like, oh well, explain the funnel to me. And they’re like, I’m not actually sure how people are coming into the membership or the program. This is where like your tracking is is a great move. So you can see all those quiz leads after you launch and you launch debrief, you’re basically looking at, and tell me if I’m oversimplifying it, but you’re basically looking at of your sales, how many came from people who opted into the quiz through ads?
SPEAKER_00
Yeah, 100%. And every time somebody purchases anything, I’m looking for that tag. Like, did they come in through a quiz or where did they come in from? Did they come in from our quiz? Did they come in from an ad? Were they organic? Did they come in from something else? So I want to know where they came from because that that’s what I want to focus on. If the ads work great, sure, I’ll increase my budget, but I don’t want to do that until I know the data of what’s happening.
SPEAKER_03
Yeah. Why, why, why increase budget or invest more resources into literally a funnel or an inroad into your business that’s not producing the most sales?
SPEAKER_00
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03
Yeah.
SPEAKER_00
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03
Cool. So I have another question.
SPEAKER_00
Sure.
SPEAKER_03
This one’s more specific about your funnel, but like can you you you already shared with me and the listener the funnel flow, if you will, about how people come in, they start with a quiz, and then they’re pointed not to an immediate trip tripwire, but they’re pointed to a series of podcast episodes that you already identified do a great job of directing people further into your business and in a way that they stick around on the email list. Can you share what has been like a good email open rate and like
Using Claude To Analyze Funnel Data
SPEAKER_03
email click-through rate for you? Ballpark. Um, just so the listener can understand, like if they’re driving people to their email list uh with ads and however they’re getting them there, you know, webinar challenge, uh, lead magnet quiz, like what what have you what’s a good email open rate for you and a good click-through rate on those emails for you?
SPEAKER_00
I mean, I would say if my clients were asking, I would say, you know, 30 to 40 percent open rate, one to two percent click rate is where I would look at. Um, when I look at our quiz, and I’m pulling it up right now. Of course, kit like has a completely different view today. Um, our quiz open rate, I’m gonna tell you like real time is survey says it’s 60.57 is the open rate, and the click rate is 8.51.
SPEAKER_03
Okay.
SPEAKER_00
So this tells me that I am attracting people who are interested in what I am saying. Um, it feels high, I think. Um, so the I’m looking at it. The the highest is a 74% open rate with a 30% click rate. That’s the first email. The lowest is a 56% um open rate and a 2.3% click rate.
SPEAKER_03
So yeah, I’d say that’s high.
SPEAKER_00
I’d say that’s I think it’s pretty high. Now we aren’t selling anything, so it should be a little bit higher. Um, but what we’re doing is you come in, we’re giving you your results, we’re giving you the podcast playlist, we’re nurturing you. Like, hey, did you listen to this? Like, go listen to this episode kind of thing. And then at the end. We’re pointing you to the freebie that makes the most sense based on what you uh clicked on. And then that’s taking you into a funnel for that specific freebie.
SPEAKER_03
Okay. I like that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00
It’s basically a freebie on top of a freebie, is what it is.
SPEAKER_03
Freebies on freebies. We’re just stacking them here.
unknown
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03
So when I read, I’m looking at your quiz opt-in page right now. What’s standing between you and consistent business income? A free two-minute quiz for women entrepreneurs ready to scale. And then the smaller print says, take this 90-second quiz to uncover your personal roadmap for creating full-time revenue on a part-time schedule without burning out or living on social media. So specific. What would you say? What would you say the average like gross avenue, like annual revenue range is for like the women who you best serve with your business?
SPEAKER_00
Yeah, I’d say they’re close to making six figures or already making six figures. Um, and that’s why I call it the messy middle. It’s like you have a business, you’re not starting from scratch, you’ve done a lot of things, you’re probably getting ready to hire somebody or run ads or create some sort of robust funnel like this is, but you really need somebody to go behind the scenes and like audit what you’re doing, help you put together systems. Um, and I would say the systems is probably what I’m best at, like really thinking through well, what does your product suite look like? And when somebody purchases from you, how long? What’s the we just had a call right before this talking about like the lifetime value of your customer? Like I want people to stay like as long as they can, right? Um, and so that’s really what I love teaching. Um, I think anti social school, our signature program is like giving you like a taste of that to just help you get going and like organize your thoughts and really bring in high quality leads. And then our mastermind program is taking it to like that next level.
SPEAKER_03
Okay, so that that quiz I’m linking in the show notes below. My next question is is it sounds like in the messy middle, if I can remember that, it sounds like I was doing all the things and I did I hadn’t hired out like a bunch of positions on my team. Would you say that the woman you’re really helping, she is a solopreneur or she has like a part-time VA already?
SPEAKER_00
Uh how usually my clients are solopreneurs or solo with like one team member.
unknown
Okay.
SPEAKER_00
Um, so they’re trying to figure out like, and you don’t, I don’t have a large team, so you like what does that look like? Or like I always say, like, what do you want your business to look like five to 10 years from now? Like, can you keep doing what you’re doing right now every single day? The answer should be yes, and for most, it’s not. So it’s like, how do we get your schedule to match like what you want your income and your team and your systems? And how do we like pull that all together?
SPEAKER_03
Okay, so because I’m thinking the the lady who you best serve in your audience is probably not the same person who loves spending hours or even has the hours to spend inside of Meta Ad Manager, right?
SPEAKER_00
Um and yet you hire you, is what I would tell them to do.
SPEAKER_03
Maybe if their business revenue is like much higher, let’s say 250, 300, you know, uh dollars a year in in gross revenue, hopefully with a very healthy profit margin. But what I’m getting at here is is you figured out how to run your own ads. So, like, what are you saying to that woman who who’s thinking about running ads to a funnel in her business that’s already been working? But she’s kind of thinking, oh wow, meta ads is not easy. Like, what would you say?
SPEAKER_00
Oh, it’s not easy. Um, well, there are a couple of things. If you don’t have the budget to just, I don’t want to say give away, because I hope that you get good results, but like if you don’t have a thousand dollars to just test it out, like you shouldn’t be doing it in the first place. Um, so there’s that, which I’m sure you would agree with. Um, the other piece is I am not a meta expert by any means. So for me, I’m taking it in phases. Like this is the test phase. If it goes well, I will most likely hire somebody to help me scale it because this is not my area of expertise. Um, that’s part two. Part three is I have really leaned into Claude specifically to analyze my data. So I have it connected to kit. I have it, you can can you can I don’t know if there’s a connector to fit to Meta yet.
SPEAKER_03
I’m sure there’s, but not for everyone.
SPEAKER_00
Yeah, I I haven’t gotten that far, but I will just download the data and I’ll upload it into Claude and I’ll compare it to like kit, our email service provider. And like I will spend a lot of time figuring out what is going on, but also answering the question like, where are my leads coming from? So if you have all of that, then I would say, okay, let’s try it. But if you don’t, I wouldn’t. Um, because I think it can be really powerful, but I think you have to take it in steps. Steps to make sure that you’re not just burning money, which sometimes can happen with ads.
SPEAKER_03
Uh, it can happen quick with ads if you’re not ready. And what you just gave and shared, like with me and the listener, like a measured approach for sure. Um, but yeah, you know, actually, Holly, I started saying a disclaimer, and it’s not, it’s not like super polished or anything, but yeah, it basically goes like the information you’re getting from me is just educational, you know, if not for entertainment, but educational, right? And it’s based, yes, on like our experience or my experience as an ad manager, but like it doesn’t mean that ads is like this get rich quick thing, take what I’m sharing and apply it to your business without thinking, and you’re just going to make money. Like, no, that’s not the case. Like, ads takes work, right? Yeah, um, and if anything, you’re right. Like, do you have a thousand dollars to throw at it? Not that we’re blindly throwing money, but I love that you said that because in the beginning, there is a price to pay. If, like, either you’re gonna pay with your time, kind of like social media and growing your business, you’re going to figure out how to do all the things organically. Well, for ads, either you’re going to pay with your time and figure out how to like tiptoe through the mindfield of all the mistakes of options and things you can click or not click and meta ad manager, maybe watch a YouTube video or 18 and then um come back and maybe make a few mistakes and go back to the drawing board with your ads. That takes time, which we understand as seasoned business owners, like we can invest in other areas of our business that have like a more immediate return um on our time, or you’re just gonna pay somebody like hopefully me. Um, for did you know, Holly? It took me almost five years, and I’m only just now like coming out with a done with you Facebook and Instagram ad to offer after five years.
SPEAKER_00
Yeah, like well, it’s changing so much too, right?
SPEAKER_03
Yeah, I’ll just be transparent. That’s painful for me because I just haven’t done it. And over the five years, like there’s just been so many people, honestly, who because I like stand for responsible growth advertising, like I’ve just had to say on a call, like it doesn’t make sense at your current stage to like hire me to do your ads for you. And I never had something else to like give them. I just could tell them, don’t do this right now, because hiring an ad manager is not good either because your funnel’s not quite established yet, like, or you know, I offended a lady by accident. I met her at an event, um, which I won’t say, and it was a good event, and she has a good business, but out of my heart to serve her, I one she was asking me, Oh, yeah, you’re an ad manager. Great. Like, what do you think about running my ads? And my first question was like, How good is your funnel? And what are you grossing in your business like annually? And she looked at me and she’s like, Well, it’s not about how much I’m making annually. I’m like, Well, yeah, it is though, because I’m gonna tell you if it’s a good move or not. And part of that has to do with where you’re at in your journey. And I think she kind of it she didn’t know me well enough to know that I was kind of just being honest and coming with like a heart to serve and not just be like, Yeah, rah, rah, rah, run ads, you know. Yeah, um either way, I’m I’m literally finishing up the page and hopping on calls with people, and so um, all that was to say, like, there’s there’s a time when you want to spend to hire an ads manager, and normally there’s a phase, which you’re in it now, where you don’t want to go out and hire an ads manager, but you do want to save yourself all the time of figuring out, like, I’m speaking to you right now, listener, if this is you, like it’s gonna take a long time or a certain amount of time and heartache to figure out ads, and that’s when you want to like work with an expert or do something like my new done with you program, or you could be in a small room um and have somebody point you the way and thus take the shortcut to getting ads working.
SPEAKER_00
I’m sure there are shortcuts. I also think there are things that I’m not doing, like retargeting, I know is really important, um, that can be added onto our strategy. Um, so I’m interested to see our like next launch, to see the data, and then make decisions based on that.
SPEAKER_03
I’m interested to see our next launch and see the data. Thank you. Thank you for saying see the data. Like it’s so important, right?
SPEAKER_00
Yeah, yeah. And I know I’ve mentioned Claude a few times, but if you use Claude, it sits in the browser, the browser app, and you like open up kit or you open up whatever you’re using, you could just type in the question and it’ll go in and analyze it for you. Like you could go into like Google Analytics or Google Search Console, and you could just tell it, like, hey, what’s my top whatever? And it’ll get it to you in like 30 seconds, which is so cool. And I think that’s that’s what I’m excited about with the ads and the quiz and now the funnels is I’m going to be able to collect data to figure out, okay, well, what’s our next move? And it’s not just my opinion. My opinion’s important, but it’s it’ll be backed by data too.
SPEAKER_03
I that’s why I love AI. It’s like I know there’s lots of people who have AI solving big issues in their business, and there’s folks like me who still try to integrate AI and it doesn’t work. But wow, it saves like Claude has saved us so many hours of just crunching the day. Like, can you remember back in the day when you had to know certain formulas and know how to like systematically crunch data in order to get like a decent direction out of it? Yeah, it wasn’t easy, you know.
SPEAKER_00
No, it’s really amazing.
SPEAKER_03
Yep. And now Claude just does it, you know? It’s like, tell me what’s working, and it can look at all the data and tell you what’s working, yeah, and tell you what to do more of. Um what was the question that I wanted to ask you?
Highs Lows And Final Advice
SPEAKER_03
Oh, can you share a high low of uh running your ads? Specifically, what I mean is this like, what was the lowest artist thing you’ve experienced thus far in running your own Facebook and Instagram ads? And then the highest, because I like to finish on a high note, like just I don’t know, a success that really made you feel good, and you just had to run into the next room and tell your husband about.
SPEAKER_00
I mean, I think the low is if you want to do it right, there’s a lot of steps. Like I want to make sure that everyone gets tagged appropriately and I know where they’re coming from, and they’re getting to the right page, and it’s pointing them to the right thank you page, and there’s cookies and pixels and all the things. Like it takes a minute to do that. It’s not like I’m gonna build a quiz and two days later it’s live. Like it took a minute to like figure all that out. So I think that can get overwhelming at times. But the nice thing is is once it’s live, like it just is there. And I do think a quiz is such a fun topic to talk about, like on a podcast, or if you’re you know, speaking to someone, like everyone loves a quiz. Like I could, if I was speaking live, I could pop the quiz on the screen or people could do it while I’m talking. And so I do feel like I have this asset that will last a long time. Um so that was like kind of a low. I the high is our other funnels are doing so much better because they’re attracting the person instead of like, so the freebie for antisocial school is a private podcast. I like podcasting. Um, it’s called the antisocial shift. So if you take the quiz and you like, that’s your answer. You listen to some podcasts, and then we give you another podcast, and I can see that more people are listening to it, more people are purchasing our tripwire. Like it’s so much more of a connected audience. And for the most part, I don’t really sell like low, low ticket items. So, like a fun win for me is I was like, oh my God, somebody bought like a $27 tripwire. Like that doesn’t normally happen for us because I don’t talk about it a lot and it’s not really like it’s there, but it’s not there. And so it’s been cool to see like aligned people coming in instead of just like putting a net out there and like hoping to get whatever you get. Like we’re seeing the right people come in.
SPEAKER_03
Okay, all right. That’s a pretty good high point. So, Holly, having shared that high point, what would you say, or what like final thought would you leave with the woman who’s listening right now and is on her way to clearing six figures for the first time in her business?
SPEAKER_00
Yeah, such a good question. Um, I would say don’t be afraid to try something different. I think if you are new to me or listening, you’re probably like, you just told me to do a freebie on top of a freebie. And like, what the heck is that strategy? But it works for my audience because I could see the data. And I’ve said the word data a lot, but don’t be afraid to try something if the data is backing up what you want it to do. Uh, it doesn’t have to match what everyone else is doing.
SPEAKER_03
Cool. I can’t add to that. That’s pretty good. So I’ll just say thank you for being a guest on this podcast, and thank you for letting us um, I guess, join you on your relatively new two months in Facebook and Instagram ads journey.
SPEAKER_00
Yeah, thanks so much for having me.
SPEAKER_03
It’s my pleasure and dear listener, until the next time that you hear from me or see me, take care, be blessed, and I’ll see you in the next one. Bye.
