The Real Cost Of DIY Copy
SPEAKER_00
Is a copywriter really worth it to redo your sales page? So I saw somebody write a similar question like that inside of a Facebook group. And then in a response to their own post, because they kind of knew that they had done wrong, spoiler alert, that kind of copywriting is worth it. And that’s what this whole episode is about. But anyway, they responded to their own post, like admitting that the page they put together themselves, the rewrite, didn’t convert anywhere near as well as they had hoped. If you’re a course creator already spending around $8,000 and up a month in Facebook and Instagram ads, and you’ve asked a similar question about whether or not a copywriter was worth it, or even an ad manager was worth it. By the end of this episode, you’ll understand why smart business owners resist investing in their business still. And why that’s slowly, quietly, not so quietly, fastly costing them and maybe you quite a bit of money.
The Oil Change Rule For Sales
SPEAKER_00
So I’m thinking of a car. This is an oil analogy. I don’t have a car because I live here in Mexico, but I used to have a car way back when, when I lived in the United States, pre-2009. And you know, some people, when it comes to car oil maintenance or oil change schedules, they stick to the schedule and they even do it early because everybody knows that a car needs oil to work, and other people, although they know that, refuse to change their oil on time and they want to stretch their oil changes out because they don’t want to get ripped off and da-da-da-da-da-da-da, right? Okay, now the business version of that analogy, or was that a metaphor? I don’t know. English in high school and college was not my forte. Actually, I loved it when I finally read and understood, heard somewhere, let’s say read and heard on YouTube, that in order to sell well, you can just talk like a third grader because people need to be spoken to basically, right? Because somehow I basically um kept talking like a third grader ever since I, or I should say kept writing like a third grader ever since the third grade. I digress for your business. Your sales page copy is like getting an oil change. You know that oil changes done regularly, keep your car running well. Well, you also know that good sales page copy makes more people convert on your sales page, and because you know selling is serving, and literally selling people into your program is fueling your business with income so that you can continue to help people, then the sales page is super important. But owners, maybe you, probably other online course creators and coaches, resist paying money to hire a sales page copywriter. Why? Why? And to bring it home, very personal.
A 3x ROAS Friend Still Refuses
SPEAKER_00
I have a friend. He is the owner of a very cool business. This business has like 3x return on ad spend is in he’s running Facebook and Instagram ads to his page, giving a dollar to Mark Zuckerberg and getting three dollars back. And I told him the next best thing you can do with your money that you’re gonna reinvest in the business is to get a sales pay makeover, hire somebody who does conversion copy and can write your sales page better than you did it yourself. And and and he would not take the advice. And maybe you, dear listener, have also resisted hiring a copywriter or an ad manager. We’ll get to that
When To Hand Off Ad Management
SPEAKER_00
later. Okay, if you happen to be a course creator who’s spending over eight grand a month in Facebook and Instagram ads, and you want to get ad management off of your plate so you can show up 100% in your launch and deliver a great webinar or challenge or a boot camp, then head to the description below. There is a link, and you can book yourself an ad strategy call with me, and we can see what that looks like to take that off of your plate. Here’s the thing, I get it, right? You see the copywriter’s bill or invoice sitting there in your inbox, $4,000, and you’re like, what? I don’t want to pay $4,000. I could do it with AI, or I could do it myself, or that voice in your head, do I really need it that bad? I mean, that that’s a lot of money. And so then your brain just like excuses you out of the expense and you continue on.
Conversion Rate Math That Changes Everything
SPEAKER_00
But the same person, maybe yourself, I’ll just say my friend also emailed me and he was asking how he can increase sales. And it’s like, but your sales page that people see, if you increase volume of people to that sales page, what kind of money difference does that make for you? If your page goes from converting, let’s say at 4% right of people that visit it to converting at 8% of people that visit it, if you’re selling something like $500, $1,000, $3,000, or maybe even only $27, okay, that makes a difference. I know that’s not you. Somebody else who’s listening to this podcast episode right now just pulled out their calculator, did the math, and said, look, Quay Joe, I’m only selling like $47 thing. You know, if I went from 3% conversion to 7% conversion, you know, and even if I increase traffic like tenfold, it wouldn’t make that much of a difference. And guess what? This episode is not for you because there’s something I will say. I spent two to three years coaching online course creators with businesses that were already working quite well. We’re talking about, you know, on the low end 300,000 gross annual revenue a year on the high end. Oh, gross annual, that would be yearly. So gross annual revenue, and then on the high end, like just under $2 million. And you know what? They absolutely tracked their sales page conversion rates, and they invested in copywriters to inch those rates higher and higher and higher and higher. I digress. Because I mean, well, I don’t digress. Here we come right back. They did it, but it’s not worth it for you to invest in that. Now, think back to when you had your last launch and you were running your $8,000 in ad spend to get all the registrants into your launch. And by the way, it’s funny, I saw this post, which I will do and talk about in another episode, but this lady was talking about how somebody who has a launch that’s working will go and try to improve the conversion rate a little bit. Um, we’re talking about the opt-in page registration conversion rate or the show-up rate to their webinar, just a little bit, and also improve the sales page rate. And all they needed to do was increase the volume of people coming into their launch that was already working well so they could make more money. But they also have a different issue. They’re resisting spending money on ads to get more traffic. It it all kind of stems from the same issue, huh?
How Ads Steal Time And Focus
SPEAKER_00
Okay, so if you could spend more time showing up in your launch, what that looks like is not having to worry about what your cost per lead is doing over the two-week period preceding your launch. Because you’re spending eight grand over two weeks, that’s four grand per week. So that’s like around five hundred and seventy-one dollars. So my calculator tells me per day. How much time are you spending? Getting up in the morning looking at your cost per lead, looking at what it was yesterday or the number of days before, tweaking an ad, trying to film another video, or trying to get into Canva or into AI, I guess you really shouldn’t be. Well, anyway, getting into AI, making another graphic, adding that in to your ads, publishing it, making sure, looking over to make sure there’s no like spelling error or mistake in the ad copy. How much of that daytime is it taking you? And even if you don’t spend the amount of time required to get good results, how much time are you like, how much percentage of your brain are you kind of just, you know, worried thinking about the ads? Like, how are they doing? Now it’s 12, 8 12 p.m. You know, I want to eat lunch, but checking on my ads really quick. Or then the kids are coming home, they’re home now, they’re doing their homework routine, and I’m gonna check in on the ads again at 3 p.m., you know, and it’s time to go to bed, right? I got done watching my favorite episode on Netflix, but before I go to bed, I’m gonna check on my ads again. How much of your energy is that stealing from you? And then the confidence issue as you’re in your launch doing your thing, but you’re also wondering, are the people here like the right kind of people? Or fewer people showed up to my webinar this time? Is it because I did something wrong with the ads? Or maybe I should have, you know, tweaked the graphics a a bit differently, or maybe I should have had something different, or I knew that Instagram carousel that I posted yesterday had some good interaction on it. Why didn’t I try that in an ad? And it goes on and on. And don’t you think if you didn’t have to think about those sort of things, you could have a better launch.
Why Live Launch Energy Converts
SPEAKER_00
Have you heard folks tell you that if you take a live launch and you put that evergreen, then you can expect your conversions to cut by about 50%? Well, it’s because in an evergreen launch or a recorded thing, the energy isn’t there. Not as much energy as would be there when you’re doing it live, no matter how peppy you are on video. So, by that same logic and reasoning, wouldn’t it be better to show up with all of your brain and nothing detracting from the energy that you’re giving to somebody or a group of people live on a launch?
Investing For ROI Without The Ignorant Tax
SPEAKER_00
But yeah, I get it. Like paying for services or even courses costs money, right? Actually, I could share, like this week I just invested in a course and it wasn’t inexpensive. And the first call of the course happened to overlap on a call that I had with a potential client. And actually, that calls tomorrow at the time of the recording of this video. Anyway, I had to actually email the client or potential client, who knows if they’ll become a client, and say, Hey, can you move like your discovery call with me back a certain amount of time? I think it was an hour, forward an hour, back 30 minutes. It doesn’t matter. The point is I asked them to move it because the course is important to me. And although it takes my money, a sizable amount of money, to invest in the course, I’m investing in building something that can take my business, give it a little more gas if you let’s just say what it is, add to revenue in my business, right? You you invest money to make money, that’s normally how it works, and the reason that it’s worth investing money is because you could be like my friend, God bless him, he’s actually really cool and he can do a lot of things by himself. You know how to do a lot of things by yourself, but you could go further if you leverage the years of experience that somebody has amassed and let them do yourselves page for you, or let them do your ads for you. Then you don’t have to spend the time and pay the ignorant tax to figure it out yourself. And at the end of the day, you might figure it out pretty well, and it only cost you a ton of time patchworking some sort of strategy together or going over and over and over through AI and then still who knows what you do to figure it out, you know? But some people can, but me, I don’t wanna spend another thousand, three thousand, who knows, you know, because I I do spend money to run ads to my own business, right? I don’t want to spend money trying to do something and maybe have it not work because I was too, can I just say it, too cheap to invest in a professional who could actually get that result very quickly for me. You know, back in the day, not just right now, but back in I think it was December last year, 2025, I worked with a lady to increase the or to improve the SEO on my website. And if you’re already like SEO is a scam and it’s a waste of time, well, this is not for you. Goodbye. To make a long story short, it actually worked quite well, and I’ve gotten inquiries for my ads management service from Google search. Yes, even one person said AI recommended me, yes, because of the work at primarily the money that I invested in this lady and the work that she did for me. She did so many things that I didn’t even know I should have done. Could I have maybe figured those out? Yeah, would it have definitely taken four, five, six weeks to try to do those things and they would have been sitting in my mind, you know, because I actually do other things throughout the day for my agency, you know? And so then all the things I want to do are on that to-do list, never really getting done, but still occupying brain space, like that definitely would have happened because it has happened for other things that I haven’t paid for yet. So I’m with you to an extent. Okay.
Maintain The Business Like A Pro
SPEAKER_00
So what I want you to understand is to shift how you see yourself. There’s business owners who maintain their car like they should, and there’s other ones who make their car go further between maintenance like they shouldn’t, risking in order to save a buck that something actually goes wrong and breaks down. You see, like I witness people who understand that for a car to one run right, you just gotta do what you have to do and they don’t worry about it. It takes money, but that’s normal. Are they gonna go try to change their oil themselves? Absolutely not. Could they figure it out? Could they watch a video on YouTube, head down, get the oil can and the funnel and do the thing? Maybe, probably, but is their time, do they understand how valuable their time is and that they could say go and like for example, if somebody owns a car dealership, a Porsche car dealership, they probably make a lot of money, right? Do you think they understand how much their time is worth or the kind of things they could be doing to grow their dealership business? Like golfing with potential clients or going to the type of uh business events where their potential clients are who could afford a Porsche, you know? They understand that. Or maybe they’re investing time into their team because their team can carry the dealership farther than they could by themselves. They get this. Do you think that they’re going to go and change the oil on their own car or their second or third car? You know, like no, of course not. It just doesn’t make sense. But your time is worth a certain amount, but also there are things that are not worth your time to be doing yourself or worth your brain power to figure out yourself, and that is where you should invest in somebody that can get you a return on your investment and save you the hassle so you can get to the result, which I hope is serving more people, i.e., selling more of the offers that you sell in your business. Because I believe you were put here on this earth for a reason to help people with your skills and your passions that you have been blessed with, and you can do more of that helping and serving if you’re doing less of the maintenance on your business.
Final Push To Outsource And Grow
SPEAKER_00
So, yes, invest in the sales page, invest in the ads management if you already have an offer that is proven and doing well. And if you’re a course creator who’s already spending like or managing $8,000 plus a Facebook and Instagram ad spend for yourself, you you really there there’s many other things you can do to grow your business besides spend time on that. Like perfect your webinar, work on strategic partnerships, develop a new sales funnel for your webinar launch, your challenge, your boot camp, what have you. Hey over there. I hope this episode finds you well, doing good. Take care. Thanks for listening, and I’ll see you in the next one. Bye.
